Vinyasa Yoga Sequence for Beginners

Vinyasa yoga sequence

Vinyasa Yoga's flow helps in free-flowing from one posture to another. This flow allows beginners to get adjusted to the new form of Yoga and prevents their bodies from getting too stiff as they do not have to hold a particular pose for a long time. Vinyasa Yoga is perfect for beginners because the body finds it easier to get adjusted to the asanas that transit into one another seamlessly.

Given below is an example of Vinyasa yoga sequence suitable for beginners:

Start with a Mountain Pose transitioning into Urdhva Hastasana.

Urdhva Hastasana transitioning into Half Moon.

Forward fold transitioning into Ardha Uttasana

Low Lunge transitioning into Flying high Lunge

Plank transitioning into chaturanga Dandasana then into Upward-Facing Dog, then to Downward-Facing Dog.

Three-legged Down Dog flowing into Low Lunge which flows into Flying High Lunge.

Forward Fold transitioning into Standard Half Forward Bend.

       Tadasana flowing into Urdhva Hastasana.

Forward Fold moving into Standard Half Forward Bend.

Low Lunge flowing into Low Lunge Twist Pose.

Plank moving into Chaturanga Dansasana which flows into Upward-Facing Dog then into Downward-facing Dog

Three-Legged Down Dog transitioning into Low Lunge and then Low Lunge Twist Pose.

Forward Fold transitioning into Standing Half Forward Bend.

Mountain pose transitioning into Garudasana or the Eagle Pose.

Finally, Upward Salute transitioning into Mountain pose with Prayer Hands.

The above Vinyasa yoga sequence is suited for beginners. It starts and ends in Tadasana. Instructors may tailor their flow sequence according to your needs, but this is a basic example of a vinyasa yoga sequence for beginners.

The key is to start with a balanced pose as it makes it easier for the body to open up from all sides. You should make sure that you balance the postures by incorporating both sides of the body to maintain stability and keep the entire body flowing.
