Benefits of Doing Prenatal Yoga in The Third Trimester
The views and
opinions about prenatal yoga have always varied. Many people think it is not
safe. However, contrary to those opinions, prenatal yoga is pretty beneficial.
Some other people are appreciative of prenatal yoga in the initial stages. But
as one approaches their delivery date, they get scared and even suggest others
against it.
Still, wondering
if you should do prenatal yoga for third
trimester? We’re here to discuss some benefits of it to help you
understand better:
1.
Increases Flexibility: Yoga always helps in increasing flexibility. Pregnant women need to
have a flexible body and their muscles should also be of greater elastic
strength. This helps in recovering better post-labor and delivery.
2.
Relaxation:
Pregnancy comes with the cost of extreme mood swings. Yoga helps one relax and
calm their mind down. Women in their third trimester might especially find it
very difficult to relax due to heightened anxiety about the delivery of the baby.
Yoga helps in making them relax better which in turn increases the intake of
oxygen into the body. This very oxygen, when it reaches the baby, helps them in
developing better.
3.
Healthier Baby: Since your mind and body is healthy due to practicing Yoga, your
baby also gets benefitted from it, and hence, the baby is healthier after
delivery.
Starting Yoga in your third trimester unless you’ve been doing it
from before isn’t very recommended until your doctor suggests you to do so.
Additionally, in the third, you will be needing external assistance while doing
certain postures so that you can maintain your balance. So it is always better
to exercise in the presence of someone.
It is a given that you should not do it if you are uncomfortable
about the entire idea. But if you are okay with it and sure, there isn’t any
problem in continuing with prenatal yoga even in your third trimester.
