The beauty of yoga videos available online
Thanks to technology, anyone who wants to practice yoga can do it, without going home, in a way similar to a studio experience.
One of the best things about yoga videos is to personalize your experience by choosing the type of yoga you'd like to practice with, when and where you'd like it. It can be difficult to find the best Yoga videos online with so many options.
If you're new to yoga, all the yoga videos online for beginners might be overwhelmed. Determine your yoga style and it can be helpful if you prefer to stream online courses or purchase yoga DVDs, so we have together descriptions for some of the best yoga videos in these styles and our recommendations for these styles.
Hatha Yoga
Although the term 'Hatha yoga' technically refers to any of the positions – including all of the above styles – Hatha has come to describe a slower, gentler, or more traditional class.
This style introduces many beginners to yoga. Includes pranayama (yogic exercises), classical yoga positions, and, at the end of the 30-minute hasha sequence, a guided relaxation. This is an excellent introduction to Hatha yoga and a great day-to-day video.
Yin Yoga
Positioning in yin is usually maintained for 3 - 5 minutes (but sometimes up to 20 minutes!) that makes deep stretching easier for the weight of your body (i.e. by giving in rather than trying to "maintain" by actively contracting muscles).
With its emphasis on connective tissues, it is more passive, and the YIN complements more dynamic (yang) styles, such as vinyasa, which focuses on muscles.
Yin yoga is also meditative and can produce a soothing therapeutic effect. Online videos are a good starting point. The 60-minute relaxing class helps loosen tension in the hips, shoulders, back, and neck. This practice is a great initiation to the style if you are new to yin. This soothing sequence will also benefit experienced Yin practitioners.
